It's hard to believe the long May weekend has come and gone! "Summer" for me is more than 25% over. Was it the long delay in Spring weather that made me feel May has passed so quickly?
May highlights included:
- King's Graduation with an opportunity to meet parents and siblings of grads
- A Mother's Day Sunday lunch after church for King's out-of-towners and others
- kicking off the two summer studies of 1 Timothy and Job
- developing scheduling and routine for those who want to meet with me over the summer (gotta have my structure!)
- meeting new students who are here for the summer
- a week-long trip to Calgary to see family and friends
I am enjoying the 1 Timothy and Job studies, as well as the sharing the students are posting.
I am also enjoying my reading of "Teaching the Dead Bird to Sing" by W. Paul Jones. Through his journal entries, he recalls his journey from a teacher at Yale, Princeton and St. Paul School of Theology to living as a hermit in the Ozark Hills. I am challenged to daily step out of the "noise of life" and into silence to enjoy His Presence, to "be still and know that I am God." My goal is to build this practice into my schedule (it's more than devotional reading time), so that it will be a natural and daily part of my life by fall.
Prayer requests:
That I stay faithfully in touch with the guys over the summer.
That I find balance in the use of these summer days- ministry, personal and professional growth, relationship building in the other communities that I'm involved in for spiritual encouragement and faith sharing.
Thank you for your interest in the ministry, your prayers and your financial support.
Bob
