Serving Christ with Joy!

Serving Christ With Joy!

May 2014

Dear Friends,

Each year when I attend the King’s graduation ceremony, I know more of the gowned students that cross the stage and it's great to see them launch into the next chapter of their lives (and hopefully a career-related job!) For three that I have worked with, they are also moving into marriage this summer!

This year, the graduates' theme was Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”

This goes well with the verses that have driven my ministry this year-

Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Ephesians 2:10
For you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, that He has prepared in advance for us to do.

Be intimate with God (spiritual disciplines); know His desires in your heart; serve with good works, and particularly with the good works that He has prepared in advance for you to do. It has been a joy to see each of the men move forward with different aspects of this foundation.

Campus ministry is finished, but God has more for me to do this summer!

I will be leaving May 14th to Medellin, Colombia to teach ESL for four weeks. This is my third trip to Colombia, my second time working with this church outreach project in the developing neighbourhood of Sabaneta. I am also preparing a presentation on discipleship and mentoring for other churches. I am excited to serve with my passion for teaching, to meet new people and to reconnect with friends there- including Juan who prayed to receive Christ with me when I was there in 2011, and the +25C weather is looking good!

This is a separate missions project from my work at King’s with a budget of $1600. If you would like to support me in this endeavour, please see the blog (http://remfoo.blogspot.ca/) for further information.

Upon my return, I will have three weddings to attend, trips to Calgary to see family and friends, reading for next year, and connecting with the few students who are around this summer. My personal ministry with men (of all ages) will also continue. And with students’ input, I will be evaluating how my ministry could change to better meet the needs of the King’s community. Okay, and some DVD movies too.

Prayer requests:

  • God will give great opportunities to build relationships with Colombians for the Sabaneta church for future networking.
  • God will use my presentations to challenge men to be mentors and mentees.
  • God will continue to prompt the King's men I worked with to sustain and grow in the areas we have discussed.
  • I will be disciplined and discerning as I press into God this summer for what desire He has in me and what good works He has prepared in advance for me to do.

Have a great and blessed summer!
Bob
