Serving Christ With Joy!

Fourth Posting: August 2013

Summary of summer:

It has been a good summer of reading, time with God, some holiday time with family and friends, a few home projects (Round Up now my only gardening tool!) and I feel refreshed and renewed.

After 25 years of teaching, it is hard to break the routine of mental preparation of what September will bring. Last year at this time, I was finishing up the details of the joint position with King's and Calvary, and preparing for a steep learning curve as I anticipated my first full-on year on King's campus.

Falling into Fall:

This fall, preparation has taken on a different tone. No, it's not looking at class lists, reorganizing classroom desks, lesson plans, bulletin boards, photocopying and sitting through dull (and sometimes unnecessary) staff meetings, BUT ABOUT...

allowing my newly faceted walk with God, my reading, and my assessment and evaluation of last year to inform me on my vision, outcomes, priorities, and potential scheduling for the next eight months. How wonderful to have integration of personal growth and professional development! The staff in the Student Life department have made me feel like a team member and feedback from them, faculty and students affirm my presence and ministry work.

I am excited to see the returning students and to meet the new ones!

Timeline:

August 24th-28th- student leadership training
August 29th (Thursday)– first year students registration and move in for residents
August 30th (Friday)– first year orientation for residence and commuter students
September 3rd (Tuesday)– first day of classes
September 8th (Sunday)- first Bible study lunch and meeting

Prayer requests:

That I would make good connections with new and returning students
That God would give me a discerning spirit to know who are to be my "Timothys” among good men

Thank you for your interest and partnership in this ministry.

Blessings,

Bob

Bob, the biggest thing that drew me to our Bible study was your use of the word "intentional" when you were giving your speech (at first year orientation.) Anyway, I feel as though I have lost some of that drive and discipline during the summer and the school year will be a chance to begin again.

Andrew- 2nd year and student leadership to lead a 1 Timothy Bible study

Thanks to Charlene for the new graphic!
